Rangeela was music director A. R. Rahman's debut Hindi film with an original score, as his earlier compositions, like those for Roja and Bombay were dubbed versions of the original Tamil ones. The track also saw Asha Bhosle make her comeback into playback singing. The track also brought him his first Hindi music direction Filmfare award and the New Music Talent award.
